Winery
Established in 1988, Harewood Estate is located in one of the world's most isolated wine regions, Great Southern. In 1998 James Kellie became the winery's contract winemaker and in 2003, he and his family purchased Harewood Estate.
Harewood Estate draws on Great Southern's unmatched versatility, sourcing from low yielding vineyards across four distinct districts. Their home base is at Denmark, with steep hills, cool summer days and 'mean' gravelly soils that produce intense flavours. The other sites are in dry, sunny Frankland River, Porongurup with its towering eucalypt forests and granite soils, and Mount Barker, the birthplace of Great Southern that agronomist Harold Olmo in 1955 likened to Bordeaux in France.
Harewood Estate celebrates the Great Southern and its sub regions. Riesling leads with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, among others, following behind. For the price, the quality is exceptional.
